Amazon Associates or the Influencer Program on Amazon.de: what’s the difference, and how do you get in?
Amazon Associates is the foundation: you apply to Amazon, place links with your Associate ID on your website or social media profile and earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon reviews your application only after at least three qualifying sales in the first 180 days, and its help pages say social media pages need a substantial number of organic followers or likes, at least 500 in most cases. The Influencer Program extends Associates with your own page at amazon.de/shop. Its policy mentions thresholds but no follower count.

Based on Amazon’s German help pages on Associates Central, the operating agreement (last updated 15 October 2025) and the programme policies (last updated 14 April 2026), read on 20 October 2026, and the help pages on account users, read on 21 October 2026. According to the policy, Amazon keeps the rights to your influencer page and its URL. The help pages list twelve countries for the Influencer Program, Germany among them. The wyrld column reflects wyrld as of October 2026.
What Amazon checks in your Associates application
Amazon does not review your application as soon as you sign up. From the day you apply, you have 180 days. Once three qualifying sales have come through your links, the Associates team looks at the pages you listed, within one to two days according to the help pages, and tells you its decision. Applications that miss the criteria are rejected.
An example: say you apply on 1 November 2026. By around 30 April 2027, at least three qualifying sales need to come through your links, for instance from people in your community ordering through the link in your video description. If there are only two by then, Amazon can withdraw your application.
- Your own orders do not count towards the three sales.
- Your social media page must be established, with a substantial number of organic followers or likes. According to Amazon, that means at least 500 in most cases.
- It must be public: no closed group, no paywall, and your posts and follower count visible to people who do not follow you.
- Every page needs strong original content. As a rule of thumb, Amazon mentions at least 10 posts.
- Amazon currently accepts only Facebook (public group and fan pages, not personal pages), Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and Twitch. Your application needs the exact URL of your profile, not just “instagram.com”.
- A website must be yours, and its content should usually be no older than 60 days.
- The pages you list must carry Amazon links with your Associate ID. Without them, your application can be rejected.
- An Amazon trademark in your username, group name or domain, even altered or misspelt, makes a page unsuitable under the programme policies.
How to sign up for each programme
- Create an Associates account on Associates Central (partnernet.amazon.de) and give the exact addresses of your profiles or website in your application. According to the programme policies, taking part is free, and Amazon says it has not hired any company to provide paid setup or consulting.
- Place Amazon links with your Associate ID on exactly those pages, and add the statement that you are an Amazon Associate.
- Keep your list of pages up to date. The review starts once three qualifying sales have come through your links within the first 180 days.
- For the Influencer Program, open partnernet.amazon.de/influencers, click “Jetzt anmelden” (sign up now) and sign in with your Amazon account. If an Associates account is linked to it, you can choose your existing store ID.
- When you sign up, you give Amazon access to data about your social media presence. According to Amazon, your personal URL at amazon.de/shop/ is based on the social media username you qualify with.
- Fill your page with lists and idea lists. For single products in your posts, you keep using normal product links, for example via Site Stripe.
Rejected or closed: what Amazon says
Amazon’s help pages describe it like this: if not enough qualifying sales come in within 180 days, Amazon can withdraw your application. After a rejection, Amazon cannot restore your account or your Associate ID. Reasons for rejection named there include missing links with your Associate ID, too little original content and trademark issues, for example Amazon images or Amazon customer reviews on your page without permission.
The programme policies make a second attempt depend on the reason. If Amazon rejects you for unsuitable content, you can reapply once your page meets the requirements. After a rejection for other reasons, or after a closure for a violation, you need Amazon’s prior consent. The help pages add that if you apply again, the links on your pages must carry the new account’s ID.
For a closed account, the help pages distinguish two cases. If the violation did not put customer trust at risk, for example an unanswered request for information, you fix it and appeal. If Amazon sees such a risk, it only considers an appeal that shows in detail that its analysis was wrong and that arrives within 5 working days of the closure. Under clause 6 of the operating agreement, Amazon can also terminate without notice if you do not fix a reported violation within 7 days.
The required statement and the label at the link
Clause 5 of the operating agreement requires you to show, clearly and conspicuously, the statement “Als Amazon-Partner verdiene ich an qualifizierten Verkäufen” or a substantially similar one. Amazon’s help page for influencers also gives the English wording “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases”. For social media content, both help pages say the statement must be connected to your account. Your profile is an obvious place for it.
You also need a label right at the link. Amazon’s Associates help page gives “(bezahlter Link)” (paid link), “#Anzeige” (advertisement) and “#VerdientProvisionen” (earns commission) as examples, and its influencer help page also mentions “#ad”. For Germany, the state media authorities’ guide (May 2025) says abbreviations such as “ad” are not enough. For affiliate links, the authorities recommend an asterisk with an explanation directly next to the link.
If you get money or another benefit for an image or text post, the guide says the post also needs “Werbung” or “Anzeige” (advertisement) at the start, and it sets out separate forms for videos. A product sent to you that you get to keep can already count as a benefit.
What you must not write: according to Amazon, you may not offer anyone a reward for using your links or ask for support through your links, for example by saying that purchases support you, your business or a charity.
Statement for your profile (Amazon’s English wording)
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Note right next to your links
Links marked with * are affiliate links. If you buy through them on Amazon, I earn a commission.
How it works on wyrld
On wyrld, Amazon is one of more than 90,000 partner shops, which carry over a billion products between them. You paste a product’s link or pick it from the catalogue. wyrld recognises brand, name and variant, looks for the same item in its partner shops and automatically creates an affiliate link for each offer it finds; you don’t sign up with any network yourself. If a product isn’t on Amazon, Amazon’s help pages suggest looking for a similar one for your influencer page; in your wyrld storefront it can still appear if wyrld finds it at another partner shop.
If wyrld finds an Amazon product at other partner shops too, your community sees the prices side by side and buys directly from the shop at no extra cost. The cheapest new offer carries the “Best price” label. When choosing a shop, 65% of German online shoppers say the lowest price is a decisive factor (Bitkom Research, 2022, 1,123 respondents). Depending on the shop, you earn per click, per sale or both, with a Gutschrift (self-billing credit note) at the start of the following month. Through wyrld Boost, brands also pay for campaigns that run across many creators, based on KPIs agreed in advance.
If you work with an agency, it gets its own dashboard on wyrld, works on your storefront with you and sees the figures. Its commission share, 0 to 100% per creator, is deducted from your earnings and settled with separate credit notes. wyrld is free for creators, and the creator terms do not require exclusivity: your wyrld storefront can sit next to your Amazon page as one of the links in your bio. You need to act as a business (Unternehmer under § 14 BGB), from Kleinunternehmer (small business scheme) to GmbH; the terms set no follower minimum. Your storefront is live straight after sign-up, but it only appears in the creator overview after a review by the wyrld team.
Frequently asked questions.
Can I be in Amazon Associates and the Influencer Program at the same time?
Yes, according to Amazon’s help pages. As an existing Associate, you do not sign up again but register for the Influencer Program with your Associates account and store ID. You can keep linking to single product pages even with your own page on Amazon.
Do my own orders count towards the three Amazon sales?
No. According to the help pages, Amazon does not count personal orders. The programme policies also forbid buying through your own Associate links or asking friends and relatives to do so. You need at least three qualifying sales within the first 180 days.
What happens if I don’t get three Amazon sales within 180 days?
Then Amazon can withdraw your application and cannot restore your account or Associate ID afterwards, according to its help pages. They invite you to apply again once your page is established. Under the programme policies, the reason for the rejection decides if you need Amazon’s prior consent first. A new application needs links with the new account’s ID.
How many followers do you need for Amazon Associates?
For social media pages, Amazon asks for a substantial number of organic followers or likes, at least 500 in most cases. The page must be established and public. For the Influencer Program, the policy only mentions thresholds that Amazon sets, without giving a number.
Can I share Amazon affiliate links by DM, email or in an e-book?
In emails, text messages and direct messages from your social media accounts, yes, if the person asked to receive them, according to the programme policies. Promotion with Associate links through offline channels is not allowed, and the policies name printed material, e-books and physical mail among others.
Where do I put the link to my Amazon page on Instagram?
Amazon suggests the bio line of your profile. In posts about single products, you can point people to that link, since Amazon notes that you can’t add links in Instagram captions. To share several links, such as your Amazon page, your blog or other affiliate links, Amazon recommends a link tool that collects them in one place.
Can my agency help run my Amazon Associates account?
According to Amazon’s help pages, you can invite more users by email, with reports access or with basic access, which covers link tools and content ideas. Payment details and user management stay with the main account holder, one person per account. On wyrld, your agency gets its own dashboard, works on your storefront with you and sees the figures; wyrld settles its commission share separately.
