The source is the “Standard-Vergütungskatalog für das Partnerprogramm” (standard commission schedule) page in Amazon’s German PartnerNet help. It carries no date and was read on 22 October 2026. The table covers every category Amazon lists there for amazon.de. The areas in the left column are our own grouping. The category names are Amazon’s, translated from German.

Amazon decides which category a product belongs to. If it fits none of the listed ones, the rate for all other categories applies: 3.0%. According to the commission schedule, Amazon calculates the standard commission as a percentage of “qualifying revenue”. The schedule does not mention any payment for clicks.

What counts as a qualifying sale, and what doesn’t

According to the programme policies (last updated 14 April 2026), qualifying revenue is what Amazon actually receives from a sale, minus shipping, gift wrapping, handling fees (including for credit card payments), taxes such as VAT, service fees, credits, discounts and bad debts. So your rate applies to the net value, not to the price at checkout.

A purchase can count if it happens in the session that starts with your click. The session ends at whichever comes first: 24 hours pass, the person places an order (digital products excepted), or they reach Amazon through someone else’s affiliate link. If they add something to their basket during that session, the order can still count up to 89 days after your click.

According to Amazon, these purchases don’t earn commission, among others:

  • Product orders where a cancellation, return or refund has been initiated.
  • Products that are not shipped, streamed or downloaded and paid for within 180 days of purchase. Amazon says this deadline has applied since 14 April 2026.
  • Purchases made under a subscription, unless agreed otherwise.
  • Pre-orders of products that are not yet available on a product page.
  • Purchases made after your participation in the programme has ended.
  • Purchases through links that are not formatted correctly and are therefore not tracked.
  • Purchases by people who arrived through paid or boosted ads linking to Amazon, with limited exceptions. This is stated in Amazon’s overview of changes effective 14 April 2026. The policy text itself names ads bought through search terms containing Amazon trademarks such as “amazon” or “kindle”, and links generated or displayed by a search engine or sponsored advertising service.

Worked example: one order, two categories

  1. Say someone taps your Amazon link to a jacket in your story. That evening they order the jacket for €119.00 and a face cream for €23.80, plus €3.99 shipping. The order comes to €146.79.
  2. Amazon calculates without shipping and VAT. With German VAT at 19% (§ 12(1) UStG), that leaves €100.00 for the jacket and €20.00 for the cream. The €3.99 shipping does not count.
  3. The jacket falls under clothing & accessories: 6.0% of €100.00 is €6.00.
  4. The cream falls under beauty: 4.0% of €20.00 is €0.80. It comes from a different category than the jacket you linked, so it is an indirect sale, and according to Amazon the rate for it can differ. The example uses the table rate.
  5. That makes €6.80 in total, around 4.6% of the €146.79 the person pays.
  6. If they send the jacket back, the commission on it is cancelled. If Amazon still counts the cream, €0.80 remains.

Why your rate can differ from the table

The table shows standard rates. According to the annex to the commission schedule, they can vary between direct and indirect sales and with the amount of qualifying revenue a category brings in. Direct means the product bought belongs to the same category as the product page your link leads to. If your link does not lead to a product page, for example to the home page, every purchase from it counts as indirect. The schedule also sets special rules for schools, universities and partners linked to them (0% for books and eBooks) and for partners who mainly promote free Kindle eBooks.

The programme policies also refer to the rate shown in your rate card (“Preiskarte”). Because Amazon rounds each commission to the cent, your effective rate can be slightly above or below it. Amazon can also restrict commissions and change special programmes at any time.

Under clause 13 of the operating agreement, changes to the agreement and policies take effect seven calendar days after notice at the earliest, except for increases in standard or special commissions. The policies were last changed on 14 April 2026. So rely on the rates in your PartnerNet account and check them before you plan with them.

How it works on wyrld

The rates above are what Amazon pays members of its Associates programme. In your wyrld storefront, Amazon is one of more than 90,000 partner shops, which carry over a billion products between them. You paste the link to an Amazon product, wyrld recognises the brand, name and variant, looks for the same item in the other partner shops and automatically creates the affiliate link for every offer it finds. You don’t sign up with any network yourself.

Your community sees the offers with prices side by side and buys where they like, directly from the shop and at no extra cost. According to Bitkom (2022), 65% of online shoppers in Germany say the lowest price is a decisive factor when choosing a shop. If someone prefers another shop from the comparison to Amazon, that offer counts for your storefront too. Depending on the shop, you earn per click, per sale or both. Amazon pays wyrld on its own terms, and wyrld pays you from that. Your dashboard shows what a product earns you.

Earnings are settled at the start of the following month with a Gutschrift (self-billing credit note). wyrld pays out commissions from sales once the shop or the affiliate programme has paid wyrld. If you work with an agency, it gets its own dashboard, maintains your storefront with you and sees the same figures. wyrld deducts any agreed commission share from your earnings, and your agency receives its own credit note. Through wyrld Boost, brands also pay for campaigns that run across many creators, based on KPIs agreed in advance. Taking part is up to you. The creator terms don’t require exclusivity, so you can use wyrld alongside Amazon. wyrld is free for creators.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Which Amazon category pays the highest commission?

According to the amazon.de commission schedule, the top standard rate is 6%, for clothing & accessories, shoes, handbags & wallets, Amazon Fashion private labels, luxury, Luxury Beauty and Luxury Fashion stores, and watches. The lowest rate above zero is 1%, for Amazon Fresh, grocery, pantry, video games and game consoles. Gift cards, wine, Android apps, Kindle Unlimited and Coach products earn 0%.

Which Amazon rate applies if someone buys something else through my link?

Generally the rate for the category of the product bought, provided the purchase counts: ordered in the session after your click, or added to the basket in that session and ordered within 89 days of the click. If it comes from a different category than the linked product page, Amazon treats it as an indirect sale, and the rate can differ.

Is the Amazon commission rate applied to the price including VAT?

No. According to the programme policies, Amazon uses qualifying revenue, which excludes taxes such as VAT and shipping and is reduced by discounts and credits. For a dress at €59.50 with 19% VAT, for example, that is €50.00, so 6.0% comes to €3.00.

Does Amazon Associates pay per click or fixed amounts?

The commission schedule does not mention pay per click: the standard commission is a percentage of qualifying revenue. Fixed amounts exist as special commissions for certain actions, according to Amazon for example €3.00 for a Prime free trial sign-up and €10.00 for a free Audible trial, each via the landing page Amazon specifies.

When does Amazon pay out Associates commission?

According to the programme policies, about 60 days after the end of the month in which you earned it. For bank transfers in Germany, Amazon can hold back payment until at least €25 has built up. You can also choose Amazon gift cards, likewise from €25.

Do Amazon influencers earn more than regular Amazon Associates?

Not for purchases as such: according to Amazon, purchases through your influencer page are paid similarly to the Associates programme. The programme policies also name separate onsite commissions for your content that Amazon uses on its own website. Amazon describes the details in Associates Central, its partner portal.

Do I get Amazon commission if someone buys the product from another shop?

No. According to the programme policies, Amazon pays for purchases on an Amazon website after a click on your affiliate link. A purchase from another shop doesn’t count. If wyrld finds the product at other partner shops, their offers appear in your wyrld storefront next to Amazon’s. These count for your storefront too, on the click, the sale or both, depending on the shop.
